Bergen- Bodø 2017

P2. Bergen Bodø, Norwegian coast, 27 April- May 7, 2017 (about 600 miles)

A brilliant trip from Bergen to Bodø along the Norwegian fjord coast!

This popular trip (bird watchers ..!) meanders for the most part among hundreds of islands and into the fjords. We will make day trips and divide the time between sailing and hiking.
Often we throw out our fishing rod and we can prepare a delicious fish dinner.
Each trip we’ll find some new places, but a visit to the Holland fjord with the Svartisen Glacier will not be missed!
We sail here in the breeding season and you will see thousands of seabirds, including gannets and puffins. Also, we often meet sea eagles here!
The town Rørvik is almost certainly on the program, where many birds breed in the nearby nature reserve.
On this journey you’ll cross into the Arctic Circle (66º 30’N), which is a party worthy!
Due to the Gulf Stream, the water is relatively warm, whereas in Antarctica at this latitude, there would be ice.

Depending on the weather, we’ll either go via the sea, or travel closer to the islands and in the fjords. We will anchor near one or more islands and finally arrive in the evening of May 6, or the morning May 7 in Bodø.
