To the Panama Canal
In just a little while, the Anne-Margaretha will cross the Central America isthmus on the great Panama Canal, a passage of only one day! We hope that the authorities go through all the procedures quickly…. There are webcams posted on both the Pacific and the Atlantic side locks, and with a bit of luck you can see our ship move through the canal!
After a night in the port of Colón, she travels on to Cuba. The sun tent provides a welcome reprieve during the Canal Tour: the sun shines mercilessly here with temperatures at often more than 30 degrees C.
Patagonia, Chilean Coast and the trip to the Galápagos
The journey through Patagonia was breathtakingly beautiful again. Fortunately, not much has changed here: there are vast uninhabited areas of undisturbed nature with few visiting ships. We enjoyed the impressive glaciers, their rainforests and multitudes of hummingbirds, parrots, and kingfishers, etc. There was also the friendly regular visits from seals and (at the beginning) whales.
The journey along the Chilean coast the winds were friendly! As temperatures rose, the bird species changed (to pelicans, vultures and many more).
A visit to picturesque Valparaiso was one of the many highlights.
In Árica, a new group of passengers came on board, including our 2 granddaughters (ages 2 ½ and 6.) What a pleasure for them, their grandparents and also often for the guests! Everyone took the little ones with great grace, even their occasional fussing. We were delighted with the guests!
The Galápagos Island, Santa Cruz, was the ultimate goal of this special journey. Everyone made as many tours to other islands as possible. It was quite wonderful to be here!
With their heads full of fantastic impressions, some guests went home from the Galápagos, and others sailed further with us.
From Cuba, the Anne-Margaretha will sail to Bermuda (1 day), and then on to the Azores (Trip P22). This is practically the only route where 2 places can still be had…. A very quick decision for you if you’d like to join us, and we hope you do.
We wish everyone a nice continuation of spring and also a nice summer!
Greetings,
Greet and Heinz
