Newsletter autumn 2020

1 October 2020

We keep making plans.
After a season of not sailing…, we are looking ahead to next year.
Of course no one knows what that season will look like, but we remain optimistic. Fortunately, many of you are also looking ahead to next year’s sailing season. Our 2021 Sailing Program is now online.

The ship awaits …
Our ship, the Anne-Margaretha, has been stationary in Den Helder, The Netherlands all summer. When she had to get out of the water for inspections this week (well, a continuing process …), we saw the result of mooring in salt water during a long, hot summer: a colony of coral-like organisms had attached to the skin and the screw of the ship ….quite beautiful, but not really the intention. Although this was an interesting discovery, we are now considering berthing our ship in fresh water. We did a lot of maintenance this summer and the Anne-Margaretha is eager and ready to set sail again!

2021 Voyages
If all goes well: Norway reopens its borders and air traffic starts up again (etc. etc.), our first trip will depart on April 19 to Bergen (N).
There are availabilities on trips B1 (Den Helder – Bergen) and B2 (Bergen- Bodø).
Both Lofoten trips (B3 and B8) are fully booked.
The 1st Spitsbergen trip (B5) and the trip to Greenland (B10) are also full.
Fortunately we still have availabilities on the 2nd Spitsbergen trip (B6).
The voyages B4 (Tromsø – Spitsbergen) and B7 (Spitsbergen- Tromsø) have some free places and there are also availabilities on the B9 journey (Bodø – Iceland). The crossing from Iceland to the Netherlands (B11) still has 2 pl. free.

What if…
We understand very well that many people still hesitate to book, but just like last season: if we cannot make the trips due to Covid-19 measures (e.g. Norway maintains border closures, planes are grounded, we are only allowed in with 10-14 days in quarantine, etc., etc.), you will be refunded the travel sum you have already paid. If you have any questions about this, you can always talk to us by phone or email.

We maintain our courage and hope that the world will soon look brighter. Above all, we try to stay healthy and contribute to a liveable planet.

Many greetings and good health to all our guests, friends and interns!

Greet and Heinz
